What I've Been Up To: A New Project!

I can’t believe it’s already been six weeks since I left Google for a year of exploration and experimentation! So far, I am loving the freedom and the new worlds that have opened up. I’ve met lots of interesting people and learned new things about myself. I started out a little too busy, with a full calendar that didn’t look all that different from when I was working full time, and I’m slowly figuring out how I want to spend my time and structure my schedule.
I keep an experiment log for all the new activities and projects I now have time for, tracking my hypotheses, observations, and interpretations. I’ve concluded some of my successful experiments after reaching a milestone, and discontinued others after realizing they were not serving a useful purpose. Although the latter could be seen as failed experiments, I gained useful insight, so in my book they were still worth the time.
A few projects have kept me busy for the last few weeks, and I haven’t been writing as much, but I have a bunch of topics and stories I want to cover, so I’ll be posting articles very soon.
In the meantime, I wanted to share about one of my new projects, fulfilling a dream of mine to help more people overcome toxic burnout culture. If you know me or have been reading my blog for a while, you know that I suffered from debilitating burnout just a couple years ago and took a leave of absence from my job. I enrolled in a coaching program that not only helped me to recover, but to return to work with a completely different mindset so that I could perform my job more effectively without sacrificing my health and happiness.
I’ve listened to dozens of others who are feeling the same struggle that I did and are either on the verge of burnout or already there. It’s an especially common phenomenon for women and younger workers these days, and can impact anyone in a highly demanding profession, especially when coupled with global political chaos, lack of support, economic uncertainty, and rapid change.
So I’m really excited to announce that together with fellow coach, Ha Tran, I’ll be piloting a small group coaching program to support high-achievers dealing with burnout. The first cohort starts on May 16th, and we only have 6 seats available so that we can create a personal and intimate experience and safe and supportive community for our participants.
On Friday, May 2nd, we’re delivering a free 30-minute lightning lesson on the causes, costs, and cures for burnout on Maven 10:00 am PDT/1:00 pm EDT. If you are depleted and anxious from work and feel stuck, register to join us! If you can’t make it live, please sign up anyway to support our cause and watch the recording.
